So, tourists get a Tax Refund if you show your passport and then you show the receipt at the airport, but I was wondering, what if I got it shipped from the store to the US? Would I be able to avoid the whole refund hassle? And I am aware that the refund only applies if your purchase costs a certain amount, but I think I will qualify as the thing I want to buy costs roughly $1,600 and at that price, I definitely want my refund lol.
Answer: Your best bet for such a high priced item is to find a retailer who will deduct the VAT at the time of purchase. I saw this suggestion on several websites.
