Taxable Income Children

Taxable Income Children

Question: can child support be used as Taxable Income?

i have no other income, can i file taxes on that money if i want to?

Answer: Child support is non taxable income and for purposes of calculating the earned income credit, child support is not considered earned income.

Now alimony would be a different story.

Taxable Income Exemptions

Question: Should Gold Plated, Union Cadillac Health Plans, be Taxable Income under Obama care?

The whiny public union employees think they are too good for Obama care, and many have obtained exemptions.

Shouldn’t these public union employees be taxed on the actual cash value of these costly plans, at their prevailing income tax rate?

Why do Public Employee Union Members refuse to pay their fair share in taxes on their compensation?

A small business owner has to pay for his health care with taxed dollars – why do unions get a free ride?

Answer: I don’t know if they should or not but by 2018, they will be. As far as I’m concerned, mandating the purchase of health insurance is a tax in and of itself so that makes it double taxation. Few of us have as good of health insurance coverage as we had 5 years ago and we are paying more for the decreased benefits. You are buying not only your own health insurance under the bill, but you are paying for millions more who are required to have it but can’t pay for it by 2014. Kind of like one big happy union. We’ll all pay the dues and get less for it.

Taxable Income 1040

Question: Where do I include the FSA reduction in Taxable Income using TurboTax or where on form 1040?

I have a FSA (Flexible Spending Account) for medical expenses set up with my employer. My employer does not include this reduction of taxable income on the W2’s and are not required to when it is for a (Health) FSA.
Also, if this was a FSA for child care then my employer says they would be required to show the reduction of taxable income on the W2.

Answer: I believe you need to fill out form 8889 and then the deduction will go on line 25 of form 1040. But, you may want to go to www.hrblock.com because you can ask the tax professionals questions right online.

Tax Refund Estimator

Question: Form 8379- tax estimators online ACCURATE?

HELP! I had to file a form 8379 (thanks for the nasty surprise, HUBBY). My question is, in trying to figure out how much I will one day get back as my “portion”, are the online Tax Refund estimators accurate? If so, do I use all the same info as on my regular return, or do I change my filing status to married filing separately, and use both of our incomes, etc.? Please help, I need some light at the end of this tunnel…
I have already completed the form. I would like to know if I can figure out how much I will get back if I use the online tax estimators.

Answer: if you had income,by filing the 8379 injured spouse form you will get back whatever your refund would have been if you had filed separate.

no,you keep your filing status as married/joint and yes use the same info from both your incomes.on the injured spouse form there’s a space for you(the injured spouse) and one for your spouse.the first space is the total of everything on you’ll Joint Return, then in the 2nd space you would put in your income only, then in the other your spouse’s.

for the deduction if you’ll took the standard deduction put the total deduction taken in box-A then split that total between you two in box-B and C. federal taxes withheld would be the total between you both in box A then your separate withholding and then your spouse’s.

no,because if you calculate it using any other status it will change your refund drastically, because you will have a higher tax liability resulting in a smaller refund amount than what you can expect,so the amount you get from the calculator wouldn’t be accurate enough.

Taxable Income In California

Taxable Income In California

Question: I have ‘08 Taxable Income earned in the US, but I don’t live in the US. Any way to get out of the state taxes?

I lived and worked in California until September, 2007, and within days after leaving that company I moved abroad. I was told by HR that I could not have an international forwarding address, and had to have a domestic forwarding address. So, I used an alternate address in New York state, where a contact could forward me subsequent correspondence.

Though no longer living in the US, I received a bonus payout in Jan ‘08, which created a 2008 taxable event. When I reviewed the paystub, I noticed that I had been taxed by both California and New York state — neither of which have I lived in 2008 (and NY not at all). Is there a way I can claim back the state taxes?

Thanks for any help.
