State Income Tax Refund California

State Income Tax Refund California

Question: State Income Tax Refunds in California?

As we have all heard, there is a chance that people in California who are entitled to a state income Tax Refund may get an IOU instead. I’m wondering if that does happen, will we get interest on that amount when we finally do get the refund? My husband says don’t count on it, but I say that’s not right. We should get interest too.

Answer: I have learned from the franchise tax board that no interest will be paid on these early returns. Since we have until April 15 to file they do also. No interest will be paid unless it runs into 45 days after the April 15th date.
