Tax Assistance Jobs

Question: Can my daughter’s father, who doesn’t have custody, claim her on his income tax for the child tax credit?
He pays 50 a month to welfare because I am on assistance temporarily. He’s only paid for two months. I have full custody, but my husband goes to school full time, no job, and I am not in school because I am in my 3rd trimester. Can he claim her and receive the large child credit? Does he need my permission to claim her? Does anyone know where I can get these questions answered?
Answer: You could sign IRS form 8332 and give him permission to claim her as long as he’s her biological father, but if he doesn’t have any tax liability, claiming her wouldn’t do anything for him. The child tax credit only subtracts from the taxes the person owes, they don’t get any extra back. So if he doesn’t have a job, and doesn’t owe tax, there’s no credit either. If you don’t have any earned income, then claiming her wouldn’t do anything for you either.

Hey, I want to buy some cloths on American Eagle. I currently live in Vancouver, Canada, and see some cloths on there site. It says if you spend $100 or more, shipping is free. Even to Canada. But…
I was wondering how much it will be for taxes and duty. It says:
I hereby authorize Russell A. Farrow Limited to act as my agent, (for customs purposes only) and to transact business with Revenue Canada to clear my merchandise, pay duties and taxes, handle any merchandise returns and file refund claims on my behalf. So how much will they bill me for it? I need to get the cloths soon, so this will really help.

Calculate Gross Income From Net

Question: Need help with an algebraic equation?
I am from Australia. I am trying to work out an equation. I want to work out how much I need to earn to clear a certain amount after tax. Our tax is calculated by:
Net Income = (Gross Income – Tax Threshold) * Tax Rate + Base Tax Paid
EG: If I earn $55000 pa, my net income would be calculated by:
Net Income: (55000 – 37000) * 0.3 + 4650
I am trying to form an equation that works this out in reverse to work out the gross income by supplying the net income.
Answer: NI = TR(GI – TT) + BTB
NI – BTB = TR(GI – TT)
(NI – BTB) / TR = GI – TT
[(NI - BTB) / TR] + TT = GI[(Net Income - Base tax Paid) / Tax Rate] + Tax Threshold = Gross Income

File 2005 Taxes

Question: Can you file 2006 taxes even if 2005 has not been filed yet?
I’m helping a friend get his taxes done and now he tells me 2005 was never filed. Can’t he go ahead and file 2006 so it won’t be late??
Answer: Yes he can file 2006 and then file for 2005. There is one of the great secret about the tax law. If you have a refund coming — as more than two-thirds of taxpayers do every year — then there is no penalty for failing to file your tax return by the deadline, even if you don’t ask for an extension. As noted below, the penalty for filing late is a percentage of the tax owed with the return. And, even 100 percent of $0 is $0.
