Tax Refund Singapore

Tax Refund Singapore

Question: New Jersey state Tax filing from Singapore.( Internationally)?

I am eligible for refunds for 2006 state tax. I moved here to Singapore a few months back. Can I still file for tax refunds from here ? I am wondering because there is no field for “country” in the Tax form. I believe I can’t file online (e-tax) from other countries, internationally. So I am planning to send the paper form. I want to ask whether am I on the correct track? If some one has a bit of time to answer my question, I’d be thankful.
Best!

Question: Divorce not final until October 2008, how will this affect my taxes?

I live in California and my divorce was final on 10/9/08. Will this affect mine and my ex-husbands taxes when we go to file? I am planning on filing head of household, and claiming my son (who is not my ex’s biological child) as a dependant. But because we were officially still married for the first 10 months, does that mean that we have to file a different way? Thanks for all your help!

Answer: You are not married for 2008 tax return. You will file as single. You can file as head of household.

Filing Taxes Living Abroad

Filing Taxes Living Abroad

Question: Need help in filing tax returns?

Hi…I am a US resident who’s been living abroad for a long time and this is my first return to the States and working there in my 1st job. I need someone to guide me on the proper way of filing tax returns ON YOUR OWN for 2007 without going through 3rd parties. Anyone can help? Thanks!

Answer: Hi!

I would suggest purchasing a software, such as turbo tax, etc. – these are very user friendly – depending on your personal income etc.

One note, however – since you have been living outside of the U.S., if you have paid or accrued any foreign taxes during 2007, you may take a “foreign tax credit” on your tax return. If you have had 3rd parties file your returns in the past, you may be familiar with this credit (Form 1116.)
