Question: How can I not pay National Insurance tax?
I used a income tax calculator to work out that if I was earning £28,000 gross per annual I will have to pay over £5,300 (National Insurance + Employer’s NI) towards a state pension I might not be able to use if I die before I retire.
I can do without the benefits and all that I just can’t over that fact that 20% of my income is being chucked away to a dumb system I will not benefit from.

In response to Sal UK’s answer, yes that is what I intend to do because in the past decade I have not visited an NHS doctor once nor have I been unemployed hence making my contributions useless!If for example, 1 year of contributions = £4,000 x 10 years = £40,000 which I can use to pay for my medical problems without being on the ever so long NHS waiting list.
Answer: either don’t earn more than the lower limit or get “paid” in capital funds like shares or options and your taxable earned income will be zero and you may only have to pat capital gains tax which with a clever accountant can be deferred

Question: has anyone ever used the h & r block Tax Refund estimator?
i was just wondering how accurate it is. it says i should get almost 3000 more then the other tax refund calculator i used. i sure hope its right
Answer: Although I don’t use H & R block to file my taxes, I do use the H & R block refund estimator every year. It has always been accurate. I hope it works for you too.

I am reasonably OK with the Income Tax, but have never got the hang of National Insurance Contributions as a PAYE tax payer.
Could someone explain?

subtract 105 from it
multiply this by 11%
that is your NIC

Question: 2010 H&R block state taxes?
Im really confused about this years tax refunds, I lost my packet from last year so I dont have anything to use for reference, I file “head of household” self employed and claim an income of 14,570. I used the calculator on h&rblock.com and it said my refund would be $4951, i was looking at the details and there was a zero in the spot for state taxes, are florida state taxes taken out of your refund and if so would that effect the amount i would receive back?
