Irs Help Center

Question: What should I do if was illegally claimed on someone’s taxes?
I tried to e-file my taxes, but the IRS rejected my return because my mother already filed her taxes and she claimed me. The help center at turbotax first told me that I would have to file by mail, but if the IRS rejected my e-file why wouldn’t they do the same if I file by mail? Then they told me to change my dependent status on my taxes and e-file again, but that doesn’t solve the problem that I was illegally claimed. What should I do to get the refund I’m entitled to?
Answer: You very well maybe claimed as a dependant on your mothers return if she meets all the qualifications to claim her.
Mail in your return as directed, request a direct deposit of your refund.
If you were under 18 and living at home with your mother or up to age 24 and a full time student, she may be eligible to claim you as a dependant. Then she did not do anything illegal, If you don’t fit into the above discriptions then you might be entitled to claim yourself.
Call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040, they can ask you a few questions to help determine if mom can claim you or you claim yourself

Question: HELP! I haven’t received my Stimulus Payment yet. What should I do???
I filed my Tax Returns on April 14th, in time for the deadline. My Social Security # ends in 15. The IRS website says that Social Security Numbers ending between 00 and 20 should receive their direct deposit by “no later than” 5/2/08. I have not received anything, either by Direct Deposit or by mail. We’re now one month past due.
What should I do? Is anyone else having the same problem?
Answer: The published dates were only for tax returns filed before 4/1 and fully processed by 4/15.
If you filed in the mad rush on 4/14, you weren’t processed the next day. If your return was a balance due return, it will take even longer (these are processed last).
So…you can periodically check where’s my stimulus applet (go to irs.gov click on where’s my refund, then where’s my stimulus). It will tell you if the rebate program has even touched your tax account or not.

Question: no W2 for 2006, extension is running out?
I haven’t gotten my W2 for 2006. I only worked for them until March 2006, and I dont have any pay stubs. I have contacted the IRS and they were going to write them a letter. Well, months later, nothing has happened! Anyone know a help line? A website to report this? another Irs Help line?
Answer: Extension has already run out. So if you owe taxes, you will pay interest and penalty. If you have a tax return, then you won’t get it till you file.
Best option is to contact the employer. Or the Social Security Administration will provide copies of Forms W-2 for a fee.
