Irs Head Of Household Qualifying Person
Question: IRS Head of Household?
Why does the IRS want to know if the person who qualifies you as Head of Household made less than $3000? Apparently this is now a question that is coming up when you file and my mother just got this form/questionnaire from the IRS today which reflects her 2006 taxes.
Thanks!
Answer: It would depend on the income of the person filing as HofH, but if the person who qualifies them for HofH made more than that, the IRS might explore further to see if you really provided over half of the cost of maintaining the household.
