Question: Can I get the $8000 tax credit for buying a home this year after tax deadline day?
We are due to close on our new home on April 23rd 2010. I know this qualifies us for the $8000 tax credit but it is past tax deadline day. Can we file an amended tax return after deadline day and receive the credit this year? Or do we have to wait until we file next year’s tax returns?
Answer: You can claim it by filing an amendment to your 2009 return if you don’t want to wait.

I have just recently filed my 2009 tax return for Ontario. Today my account has a credit from Canada RIT. Is that my tax refund? Because it’s way less than what my tax refund was suppose to be according to the file I prepared!
