Tax Filing Help

Question: will the government ever require on line tax filing?
With the government pushing for electronic direct deposit for tax refunds, instead of a paper checks, does it seem plausible that at some point, they will try to require online tax filing, to cut down on paperwork? The reason that it’s important is because this would make everyone vulnerable to identitiy theft. I don’t do any banking online of any kind for that reason.
Actually, I don’t use ATM’s either. I used to work at a bank, so I know all about ATM ID theft.
Answer: Eventually I see it happening. But only when Internet connections are truly ubiquitous.
You’re far LESS likely to be a victim of ID theft from on-line transactions than at a brick and mortar shop, actually. Using an ATM is FAR more dangerous than banking on-line, both from a personal security standpoint and and ID theft standpoint.
