Question: Tax Deadline question?
I am a civilian contractor working in Iraq, what is the deadline for me filing my taxes? I return to the states in September, can I wait until I return?
Answer: A tax payer can receive an automatic 6 month extent ion of time to file their federal return. You must file form 4868 (application for automatic extension of time to file a US individual income tax return) This form must be filed by April 17th. I hope this helps. You can go to IRS.GOV
Deadline to donate for 2009 Oregon Cultural Trust tax credit is Thursday
If you donate to an arts organization and then donate that same amount to the Oregon Cultural Trust, you can receive a tax credit on your 2009 Oregon taxes. If you spent a total of $100, and donate $100 to the trust, you get $100 off the Oregon tax you owe.
