Who Qualifies for Earned Income Credit?

Earned income credit is a tax credit that many high income taxpayers have not heard of. Below are requirements for claiming earned income tax credit or EIC. Any taxpayer and his or her spouse if married and filing jointly wanting to claim earned income credit must (both) meet the following tests as well as the income level test. It may be beneficial to do the income level test first to make sure that the taxpayer can qualify for earned income credit based on his or her income level.
